Two Officers Charged in Beating of Fullerton Homeless Man

The story of Kelly Thomas, a mentally disturbed homeless man who was beaten to death by Fullerton police officers has gotten a lot of media attention in Orange County.  Today charges were filed:
Bulletin: Orange County District Attorney's Office charging two officers in death of Kelly Thomas. Ofc. Manuel Ramos will face charges of second-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter. Cpl. Jay Cicinelli will face charges of involuntary manslaughter and use of excessive force.
There has been justifiable outrage on the part of many in Fullerton, and a lot of stupidity has broken out too. The mob scene mentality that has taken over the Fullerton City Council meetings is frankly embarrassing, and some of the invectives that have been hurled at the mayor and others weren't well thought out.

Last night some idiot woman screamed that she "wanted the Fullerton police department DISBANDED!!" Great idea, Sherlock. Next time something goes really bad in your neighborhood why don't you call a schizophrenic street hippie and see if he can help.

It seems pretty clear that there was wrongdoing in this case, and hopefully the court will sort it all out and hold those responsible who should be held responsible. However, continued melodramatic outbursts from "Kelly's Army" accomplishes nothing. It's time to tone it down.
