One Year From Today Can Be The End of An Error

The 2012 presidential election will take place one year from today:
With today marking the one-year countdown to Election Day 2012 and his approval rating stuck in the low 40s, President Obama will have to defy American electoral history if he is to win re-election.

At 43 percent approval in a Gallup poll conducted Oct. 28-30, Mr. Obama recently referred to himself as an “underdog” — with good reason. Of all the presidents since World War II whose job-approval scores were lower than 50 percent one year before Election Day, only one went on to win a second term.

That was President Nixon, whose job approval stood at 49 percent in November 1971. He rebounded to defeat Democrat George McGovern in a landslide in 1972.
You know what the Dems did wrong in 1972? They nominated a bad candidate. That should be a lesson to the GOP about 2012.

I see it as 52 weeks from Tuesday.

I wouldn't put it past this admin. to compile a list of executive orders that would

1. be political suicide if enacted before the 2012 elections.

2. be difficult for the successor to repeal.

For example; could Obama give a huge swath of federal land in the path of the Keystone XL pipeline to an Indian tribe by decree?

I meant the above post to be in respect to Obama's potential lame-duck session. He could be very dangerous from 11/12 to 1/13.
