A southbound Metrolink train fatally struck a person Monday morning in Orange, authorities said.I was actually thinking about taking advantage of the Metrolink's 2-for-1 fare special today and riding the same train line out to Riverside. Glad I changed my mind.
The incident was reported just before 6:40 a.m. at Collins Avenue and Batavia Street, according to MetroNet, a fire dispatch service.
Orange police Sgt. Dan Adams said the train was headed sout just north of Collins Avenue when the conductor saw a man standing on the tracks.
"The train struck the male, who did not attempt to get out of the way, leading us to believe this may have been a suicide," Adams said.
The man died at the scene and the 108 passengers were not injured, Adams said.
