Puerto Vallarta- On Thursday, several passengers traveling aboard the Carnival Splendor were robbed at gunpoint in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.I think the only way I'd go on a Mexican cruise is if I didn't have to get off the boat.
According to MSNBC, 22 passengers were returning by bus to the ship in the early evening hours after a jaunt to the well-known tourist area of El Nogalito. MSNBC reported the masked thieves stopped the bus and took money, watches, electronics and other valuables.
No passengers were injured and all of the Splendor's passengers were returned to the ship safely. MSNBC reported (via Mexican publication informador.mx.com), the thieves have not been caught.
According to media sources, Carnival released a statement today apologizing for the occurrence and calling the robbery an "extremely rare incident," but the tour, which includes a nature trail outing with a guide and booked through the cruise, has been suspended at this time.
By the way, this is the same ship that suffered a complete power failure and stranded passengers for about three days.
