"Slut" is the new "N" word. We all know there are certain words that are in the "Dictionary of Words White Males Cannot Use...Ever". If you're black you can sprinkle the "N" word in your conversation as often as "and" and "the" and nobody will dare question you. You have ultimate moral authority to use that word however you wish.
However, let a paleface like me use it in ANY context and POW!, I'm a racist.
Well, we can add a new word to that dictionary: Slut. This comes as a bit of a surprise given the recent history of that word.
Back on January 24, 2011, a Toronto Police Constable spoke to a group on the issue of crime prevention. During his talk he said this: "I've been told I'm not supposed to say this – however, women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized."
Well, it really hit the fan. Women were outraged! How can you blame the victim?! The victim never shares any of the responsibility for what happens to her!
Of course, the constable was right. While I would never blame the victim for a sexual assault, it is possible that manner of dress can be a contributing factor. Her clothing might be writing checks she doesn't want to cash.
Well, following his comments "SlutWalks" were born. Young women started embracing their inner slut and showed up for protest marches wearing little more than what their Mama gave them. Suddenly the word slut was a symbol of pride and achievement...at least among the aggrieved female masses.
That's why it was so surprising to see the outrage directed at Rush Limbaugh last week when he called a women a slut who claimed her birth control cost $1,000 a year and she wanted other people to pay for it What happened to slut pride? Isn't that now a badge of honor? (By the way, just about 2 miles from Georgetown University there's a Target that sells a month of birth control pills for $9.)
Well, Rush is a paleface, and worse a male, and therefore that word which was so publicly bandied about in the recent past is off limits to him. Suddenly it means what it used to mean and that's apparently bad.
At least it will be bad until the next SlutWalk.
I'm so confused.

"Women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized." -in the same sense that people shouldn't leave their doors unlocked lest they get burglarized.
There is a liberal mindset that individuals can't be depended upon to act responsibly, whether it involves their security or their healthcare.
This is all part of what Daniel Patrick Moynihan called 'defining deviancy down'. People are just now starting to realize that for that last three or four decades the left has been scoring touchdown after touchdown, while the right hasn't put up any defense -and the game is almost over.
Things are coming to a head, and the American people need to ask themselves if they're free or if they're not.
