When people start believing that rights are what government allows them to do, what government lets them do, they no longer have any rights.
Similarly, when Congress doesn't tell the President that he has exceeded his Constitutional authority by making 'recess appointments' while Congress is in session, then they're letting the executive branch unilaterally determine what rights Congress has.
Touche' Rick! Rights come from Almighty God, not the government. The three branches of government were established to be a check on each other through the people holding them to account. . . provided that the people were listening and walking with God.
The reason why we are so abjectly lost in governmental affairs, among other things is because we have not been listening and walking with God.
We need a president who will tell the Supreme Court, "Your opinion is just that. . . an opinion. I am not going to use my executive powers to enforce your written OPINION." We need a Congress who will tell a president, "We refuse to legislate a bill financing your unconstitutional socialist schemes." But most of all, we need a pre-Warren court sense of strict constructionalism that does not make policy from the bench!
Enough of this bullying by the Supreme Court and the current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. ENOUGH! They have power only because we believe in what they say. I for one don't believe what they say anymore. Try them apples, Federal Government!
He's not smart enough to earn that lesson...OR, he's someone who wants and intends to run other folks' lives for them.
To all my Liberal colleagues who want to give this government more power over their lives, I have said: Would you feel comfortable giving that kind of power to the government if Nixon were in office?
