Ann Romney Likes to Ride Horses. Obama Signed the Bill Allowing People to Eat Them

Another day, another narrative shot all to pieces.  This morning the LA Times decided to investigate Ann Romney's love of dressage, the fancy horse riding competition.  Jim Nolte describes the piece this way:
At over the 1300 words -- which is 1300 more than The Times has given the explosive allegation that the Obama campaign bribed Reverend Wright in 2008 -- the piece purports to be a profile of a woman suffering from MS who finds what the headline calls, the "pricey private world" of dressage, therapeutic. But the language of the article is pure sneering smear and an obvious attempt to aid and abet the Obama campaign's crusade to define the Romneys as out of touch elitists who can't possibly understand the problems of the average American -- you know, like a community organizer turned failed president  can.
Well, as long as we're going to talk about the candidates and horses, let's hit the way-back machine for this golden oldie from last November:
Horse slaughter plants are legal again in the United States. Restrictions on horse meat processing for human consumption have been lifted.

In a bipartisan effort, the House of Representatives and the United States Senate approved the Conference Committee report on spending bill H2112, which among other things, funds the United States Department of Agriculture. On November 18th, as the country was celebrating Thanksgiving, President Obama signed a law, allowing Americans to kill and eat horses. Essentially, one turkey was pardoned in the presence of worldwide media while in the shadows, buried under pages of fiscal regulation, millions of horses were sentenced to death.
A horse is a horse, of course, of course...

I remember seeing a sign, in the early '70s, for a butcher, advertizing horse meat.
