Political Headlines of the Day

Obama's gay marriage "evolution" continues to reverberate around the electorate:

I think this may be another of those situations in which Obama's ideology led him to misread public opinion. Because his friends and allies and the mainstream media wanted him to support gay marriage, he assumed support for gay marriage in the general electorate was much greater than it really was.  That's what happens when you surround yourself with like-minded people.

As far as black church leaders go, I saw this coming a mile away.  When California voted in 2008 blacks came out in large numbers to support Obama and at the same time vote against gay marriage.  Something like 70% of black voters rejected gay marriage and it's long been very unpopular in the black community.  Will it cost Obama any significant amount of support at the polls among black voters?  Probably not.  Race seems to trump everything else when it comes to Obama.
