LA beating victim Rodney King dead at 47 after life of crime, drug abuseAt least that headline didn't gloss over King's record. The media fawning over King both during the 20th anniversary of the riots as well as following his death completely ignored the fact that nothing about his life was heroic. He was drunk and driving 100 mph on busy freeways when he was finally stopped by the LAPD. Had the beating he received from the cops not been videotaped he'd be nothing by another blip in history with a long rap sheet.
