Obamacare Will Put Planned Parenthood Clinics In Your Schools

There are many reasons to oppose President Obama’s push to take over the nation’s health care system, but among the most important is this one: his plan will put Planned Parenthood clinics inside your child’s school.

Yes, you read that right. Under an innocuous-sounding section titled “School-Based Health Clinics,” H.R. 3200 will authorize Planned Parenthood, as a “sponsoring facility,” to run a clinic during school hours on the grounds of public schools, with absolutely no accountability either to parents or school administrators.

Clinics would be accountable only to the Secretary of Health & Human Services, the radically pro-abortion Kathleen Sebelius, who was a fervent supporter of late-term abortionist George Tiller.

Well, it will be good for the homeschool industry...assuming homeschooling is still legal after all of this.

Anti-Abortion Protester Killed In Michigan

There were two murders this morning in Owosso, Michigan, possibly related, and one victim was a well known anti-abortion protester who was maintaining his vigil outside a local high school:

State police at the Corunna post have confirmed a well-known anti-abortion activist was shot multiple times and killed this morning in front of Owosso High School.

The victim's identity has not yet been released but the shooting occurred around 7:30 a.m., after most students were off the buses and safely inside the building, said Owosso schools transportation supervisor Jayne Campbell.

State police also confirmed that a suspect was taken into custody about 8:15 a.m. at the suspect's home.

Owosso High School secretary Wendy Smith said the students remain in lockdown this morning and confirmed that no students were involved and all are safe with classes going on as normal. The shooting did not occur on school property, Smith said.

Meanwhile, police have completely ringed with police tape a section of North Street in front of the school.

A black car can be seen parked at the corner of North and Whitehaven streets, where a portable oxygen tank is lying in a front yard next to a large sign bearing the image of a baby and the word "Life."

He was identified in later reports as Jim Pouillon of Owosso and was known to carry large, graphic anti-abortion signs during his vigils.

More information will come forward later, but so far he reminds me of a guy I used to see in downtown San Diego quite frequently. He would stand right outside the bank branch where I worked, hold up large and very graphic anti-abortion signs, and scream his message at everyone who passed by. He was passionate, but harmless.

We don't know yet whether the shooting was related to his protest activities, but if it is, the question now is whether those who proclaimed such outrage at the shooting death of abortion doctor George Tiller will likewise condemn this act.

An anti-abortion activist gunned down Friday morning in front of Owosso High School has been identified as James Lawrence Pouillon, 63, of Owosso.

Pouillon was a longtime abortion protester, known for his highly vocal and visible public demonstrations around the community and even outside the state.

Longtime friend and fellow activist Judy Climer, president of Flint Right to Life, described Pouillon as "just a nice, elderly gentleman who was disabled, used an oxygen tank and wore leg braces."

Climer said Pouillon had a regular weekly schedule of visits to abortion clinics in Flint and Saginaw, where he would park across the street and pray when abortions were allegedly being conducted.

"I knew him very well. He told me one time God put in his heart a passion for the little babies that have the right to be born and they were being denied that right," said Climer, who said Pouillon often stopped at her office for coffee breaks as he drove from one location to another to demonstrate.

"He even told me once he'd be willing to die for that belief. That's what I hear him saying right now."

Climer said Pouillon called her last week and told her he planned to be in Flint later today, parked across the street from the Feminine Health Care Center, 2032 S. Saginaw Street.

"He always comes. He would even go up to Saginaw at 7:30 a.m. and pray, then come here to Flint at noon," said Climer. "This was a passion he's had for 20 years, to just pray that abortion would come to an end and that women would see the truth that abortion is murder."

Apparently, the shooter killed Mike Fuoss (the second victim) for some reason. That reason is unknown since Mike was apparently a nice guy and his wife has brain tumors.

Then, he decided that since he's going to jail anyway that he was going to "kill that ass", where that ass was Jim P the sign guy.

Third Trimester Murder Will Still be Available in Kansas

This should warm the hearts of those soulless individuals mourning Dr. George Tiller:

A Nebraska doctor said Wednesday that he will perform third-term abortions in Kansas after the slaying of abortion provider George Tiller, but would not say whether he will open a new facility or offer the procedure at an existing practice.

Dr. LeRoy Carhart declined to discuss his plans in detail during a telephone interview with The Associated Press, but insisted "there will be a place in Kansas for the later second- and the medically indicated third-trimester patients very soon."

"I just think that until everything is in place, it's something that doesn't need to be talked about" in detail, Carhart said a day after Tiller's family announced his Wichita clinic was permanently shutting its doors.

I don't think I'd talk about it in too much detail either. Taking over for Tiller is like taking over for the last Hamas leader that took a missile in his Mercedes. It may not be a job with a lot of longevity.

Two Days Later White House Finally Issues Statement on Army Recruiter Shooting

The White House finally got around to releasing a statement on the jihadi attack against our troops at the Arkansas military recruitment center.

Here is the entire statement:

“I am deeply saddened by this senseless act of violence against two brave young soldiers who were doing their part to strengthen our armed forces and keep our country safe. I would like to wish Quinton Ezeagwula a speedy recovery, and to offer my condolences and prayers to William Long’s family as they mourn the loss of their son.”

“Senseless?” It made perfectly good sense to a vengeful Muslim convert jihadi bent on “killing as many people in the Army as he could.”

For contrast, here is Obama’s full statement on the Tiller murder, issued just hours after the shooting:

I am shocked and outraged by the murder of Dr. George Tiller as he attended church services this morning. However profound our differences as Americans over difficult issues such as abortion, they cannot be resolved by heinous acts of violence.

The White House didn't have to be prompted to issue the statement on the Tiller shooting. It was a natural response for them.

It took two days of hounding by the press and others to get them to issue the milquetoast statement the offered on the Army shooting. Condemning anything that doesn't advance their agenda is difficult for them.

The Religious Right Didn't Kill George Tiller

James Kirchick, writing in the Wall Street Journal, takes on the myth currently being circulated that the religious right is responsible for the murder of abortionist Dr. George Tiller. We join the column in progress as Kirchick discusses the other myth that the Christian right is in some way similar to the Taliban or radical islamists:

The comparison between the religious right and Islamic extremists is invariably partisan so as to smear the GOP as being held hostage to forces as dangerous as Hamas or Hezbollah. "Even as the Bush administration denounces and battles Islamic religious zealotry abroad, fundamental Christian zealotry is taking hold here at home," wrote Stephen Pizzo on the liberal Alternet Web site in 2004. On his popular HBO program, comedian Bill Maher frequently compares murderous Islamists to censorious Christians.

But if the reactions to the death of Tiller mean anything, the "Christian Taliban," as conservative religious figures are often called, isn't living up to its namesake. If "Christianists" were anything like actual religious fascists they would applaud Tiller's murder as a "heroic martyrdom operation" and suborn further mayhem.

Radical Islamists revel in death. Just witness the videos that suicide bombers record before they carry out their murderous task or listen to the homicidal exhortations of extremist imams. Murder -- particularly of the unarmed and innocent -- is a righteous deed for these people. The manifestos of Islamic militant groups are replete with paeans to killing infidels. When a suicide bomb goes off in Israel, Palestinian terrorist factions compete to claim responsibility for the carnage.

There is no appreciable number of people in this country, religious Christians or otherwise, who support the murder of abortion doctors. The same cannot be said of Muslims who support suicide bombings in the name of their religion.

Yet speak of the disproportionately violent strain in Islam to a "progressive" person and you'll be met with sneering recitations of millennia-old Christian crusades or Jewish settlements in the West Bank. As for conservative Christians' contemporary political endeavors, lobbying to ban the teaching of evolution in schools or forbidding same-sex marriage simply does not threaten society in quite the same way as the genital mutilation of young girls or the bombing of the London transit system.

I happen to support a legal regime that would, in Bill Clinton's famous words, keep abortion safe, legal and rare. I hold no brief for the religious right, and its views on homosexuality in particular offend (and affect) me personally. But it's precisely because of my identity that I consider comparisons between so-called Christianists (who seek to limit my rights via the ballot box) and Islamic fundamentalists (who seek to limit my rights via decapitation) to be fatuous.

In the coming days, we will hear more about how mainstream conservative organizations and media personalities created an "environment" in which the murder of an abortion doctor became an inevitability. Just as talk radio was blamed for the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing, an attempt will be made to extend the guilt for this crime from the individual who pulled the trigger to the conservative movement writ large. But the Christian right's responsible reaction to the death of George Tiller should put to rest the lie that Judeo-Christian extremists are anywhere near as numerous or dangerous as those of the Muslim variety.

That's probably the sanest analysis coming from the left that I've heard yet.

Stepping Into the Abortionists Shoes

Looks like someone else wants to fill the shoes of the recently departed George Tiller:

Physician LeRoy Carhart wants to continue providing third-term abortions after the brazen slaying of his friend and colleague George Tiller, but the Nebraska doctor doesn't have anywhere to perform them — and he's one of only a handful of providers who will.

Tiller's Wichita, Kan., clinic was shuttered Sunday after the 67-year-old physician was gunned down at his church. His family said Tuesday that they were unsure when it would reopen, posing a problem for Carhart, who wants to carry on his friend's mission.

Carhart, 67, is one of a handful of remaining doctors in the United States who perform third-trimester abortions, and it is uncertain if a new generation of providers will take over the cause. Schools and universities don't offer many programs to train physicians on how to perform the procedure, and Carhart said younger doctors who might be interested in stepping forward are afraid they or their families will be harmed.

I'm guessing that insurance for those guys might be hard to come by.

Sarah Palin: Where's the Outrage Over the Army Recruiter Shooting?

Sarah Palin today picked up a widely heard theme on the right, using the murder of abortion doctor George Tiller to call attention to the murder of an army recruiter in Arkansas, allegedly by a self-styled Islamic militant:

The stories of two very different lives with similar fates crossed through the media's hands yesterday — both equally important but one lacked the proper attention. The death of 67-year old George Tiller was unacceptable, but equally disgusting was another death that police believe was politically and religiously motivated as well.

William Long died yesterday. The 23-year old Army Recruiter was gunned down by a fanatic; another fellow soldier was wounded in the ambush. The soldiers had just completed their basic training and were talking to potential recruits, just as my son, Track, once did.

Whatever titles we give these murderers, both deserve our attention. Violence like that is no way to solve a political dispute nor a religious one. And the fanatics on all sides do great disservice when they confuse dissention with rage and death.

As I write this on Tuesday afternoon there still has been no statement from the White House regarding the Army member murdered by a convert to radical Islam. They hadn't even thrown a blanket over George Tiller yet when the White House issued a statement condemning that shooting.

And to my knowledge none of the left-wing media that's been trying to blame the Tiller shooting on Bill O'Reilly, Fox News, or anybody in the pro-life movement, has said a thing about the Little Rock tragedy.

Simple reason: One story promotes their agenda, one doesn't.

They're Coming Out of the Woodwork

As expected, the shooting of Dr. George Tiller is really bringing the oddballs out of the woodwork. One site which linked to my original post described the shooting as "Christianist terrorism", and various commenters are blaming conservatives, Republicans, religion, one guy congratulated me for posting the story because it would "drop the prolife opinion polls by at least a point or 2",and one comment was even an attempt to proselytize for atheism. Several have been deleted (including that last one) because they just didn't meet the requirements for propriety. A couple of controversial comments were left in just so you can get a flavor of the debate.

If the shooter thought he was doing the pro-life movement a favor by offing this guy, he was clearly mistaken.

UPDATE: I just deleted a second comment from an atheist recruiter - that's actually how he or she described themselves. They're convinced that if we're all atheists we'll have no more strife or conflicts. They seem to believe that this shooting will enable them to make new converts...or should I say unconverts, to atheism.

No wonder April 1st is called Atheists' Day.

Abortion Doctor Killer was Radical Anarchist Nut

Although the shooting of Dr. George Tiller will undoubtedly be used to tarnish the entire pro-life movement, the shooter, as expected was a nut. He was a member of the Freeman, a radical anarchist anti-government group and had previously been arrested for possession of bomb-making materials and failure to pay income taxes.

This is just breaking: Controversial Kansas abortion Dr. George Tiller was shot and killed this morning as he entered church services. That's what you call a really late term abortion. More later.

WICHITA, Kan. — DEVELOPING: Media reports say that abortion provider Dr. George Tiller has been shot and killed at his Wichita church.

Tiller has been among the few U.S. physicians performing late-term abortion. His clinic has repeatedly been the site of protests for about two decades.

UPDATE 2: From Kansas.com-

George Tiller, the Wichita doctor who became a national lightning rod in the debate over abortion, was shot to death this morning as he walked into church services.

Tiller, 67, was shot just after 10 a.m. at Reformation Lutheran Church at 7601 E. 13th, where he was a member of the congregation. Witnesses and a police source confirmed Tiller was the victim.

No information has been released about whether a suspect is in custody.

Homicide detectives and Sedgwick County District Attorney Nola Foulston have arrived at the church.

Members of the congregation who were inside the sanctuary at the time of the shooting were being kept inside the church by police, and those arriving were being ushered into the parking lot. Witnesses are being transported downtown for interviews and other members of the congregation are slowly being released from inside the sanctuary.

Tiller has long been a focal point of protest by abortion opponents because his clinic, Women's Health Care Services at 5701 E. Kellogg, is one of the few in the country where late-term abortions are performed.

Protesters blockaded Tiller's clinic during Operation Rescue's "Summer of Mercy" protests during the summer of 1991, and Tiller was shot by Rachelle Shannon at his clinic in 1993.

Tiller was wounded in both arms, and Shannon remains in prison for the shooting.

Tiller's clinic was severely vandalized earlier this month. According to the Associated Press, his lawyer said wires to security cameras and outdoor lights were cut and that the vandals also cut through the roof and plugged the buildings' downspouts. Rain poured through the roof and caused thousands of dollars of damage in the clinic. Tiller reportedly asked the FBI to investigate the incident.

Sgt. Bart Brunscheen of the Wichita Police Department said there has been no activitiy today at Tiller's clinic, although security crews were being brought in to make sure the building was secure. Officials also were going to check the clinic's security cameras to see if there was any activity over night.

Tiller and his clinic have faced continuous threats and lawsuits. A Wichita jury ruled in March that he was not guilty of illegal abortion on 19 criminal charges he faced for allegedly violating a state law requiring an "independent" second physician's concurring opinion before performing later term abortions. Immediately following the ruling in this criminal case, the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts made public a similar complaint against Tiller that was originally filed in December 2008. Tiller's medical license could eventually be suspended or revoked by the board on the basis of the complaint.

Tiller was in the news recently during Kathleen Sebelius' confirmation as HHS Secretary. She received $12,500 in campaign contribution from the abortion doctor.

Sebelius Has More Explaining to Do

Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, one of the most ardent pro-abortion Democrats you'll ever find, is Obama's second nominee for Secretary of Health and Human Services. She has had previous screw-ups on her taxes and here comes another reporting problem:

President Obama's nominee for Health and Human Services secretary has greatly understated political donations she received from a controversial abortion doctor. Kansas Democratic Governor Kathleen Sebelius told the Senate Finance Committee she received about $12,500 from George Tiller, one of the nation's few late-term abortion providers.

But records indicate Tiller gave $23,000 more to Sebelius' Political Action Committee. The HHS department calls the omission an oversight.

It was the second time that Sebelius has had to explain her finances. She was forced to pay more than $7,000 in back taxes to fix improper deductions. Sebelius has yet to be confirmed by the full Senate.

Will this mean anything as far as her confirmation goes? Of course not.
