Excuse Me, My Brain is Full

Lately I've been feeling a bit like the kid in this Far Side cartoon:

So, there's nothing better for emptying one's full brain than a trip to Las Vegas! You have to be careful or you'll end up emptying your wallet too.

Yes, HolyCoast is once again off to Sin City for three nights in Las Vegas and one night in Primm, NV (where I got a deal I couldn't refuse). We'll be over there Monday through Friday.

The trip is part birthday present for my wife who will be having one of those milestone birthdays this week. I won't tell you which one, but let's just say that starting Wednesday she'll be able to order off the cheap menu if she wants to.

And I'll be married to a senior citizen (but you didn't hear that from me).

We'll be staying at The Flamingo this trip, which is a good spot since it's right in the heart of the Strip. It's just across the street from one of my wife's favorite shopping malls - the Forum Shops at Caesers Palace.

Since this is the first trip with the new camera, blogging this week will be more travelogue than ideologue, but when time permits (usually in the early morning or late evening hours) I'll try and update the site with what's going on. I'll also be using the cellphone and Twitter to post quick updates as we wander around.

Last year I did a whole series of nighttime photos of Strip hotels with the old camera (like the one above), so I'm looking forward to seeing what I can get with the new one. We'll spend a little time downtown too to build the collection.

It's supposed to be over 100 degrees everyday we're there. Let's all give thanks for air conditioning. There's nothing more refreshing than opening the hotel door to a blast of cold air after spending some time in 100 degree Las Vegas heat (and 150 degree sidewalks).
