Metrolink Accident in Fullerton

Just hearing on the fire department radio that rail traffic on the main BNSF line that runs along the 91 fwy and on into Los Angeles is being shut down because a Metrolink train struck and killed someone in Fullerton near the intersection of Acacia and Commonwealth.  Not sure if it was a pedestrian or vehicle accident.  More info once the mainstream media catches up.

Amtrak and Metrolink North/South operations between LA and San Diego are not affected.

It's been a tough week for walking near the railroad tracks.  Two 19-year olds were hit and killed by a Union Pacific freight train in Rosemead last Saturday morning.

UPDATE:  It was a pedestrian and a suicide:
A Metrolink train headed east toward Corona has been delayed after striking a man who had walked onto the tracks Monday evening in an apparent suicide, authorities said.

Metrolink train 708 on the 91 line struck the man about 6:10 p.m. in Fullerton, authorities said. Buses were being dispatched to provide transportation for passengers on the line, Metrolink said in a Twitter message.

Meanwhile, train 707 was being re-routed through Anaheim Canyon and making all of its scheduled stops, the transit agency said.

The case is being treated as an apparent suicide, said Sgt. Kevin Craig of the Fullerton Police Department.

Craig said investigators were at the scene. The name and age of the man had not been determined.
