As I write this I'm sitting in the Mission Viejo Mall watching shoppers walk by. It's interesting to see how few of them are actually watching where they're going. We've become a heads down society.
Not because we don't want to make eye contact with our fellow citizens, but because our phones are more interesting than the parade of folks around us. Since I got my smart phone I find myself doing the same thing quite often. I've ofte written captions for photos I've posted as I walked along blindly following my wife.
I haven't managed to walk into anything yet, but it's just a matter of time.
