Finish the Toll Road

Thanks to various environwackos the 241 toll road in Eastern Orange County stops abruptly in Ladera Ranch right by Tesoro High School ("A" in the map"),

many miles short of the planned connection to the I-5 below San Clemente.   As someone who has frequently driving the I-5 back and forth to San Diego, it can be a complete parking lot out there, especially southbound on Friday nights and Saturday mornings, and northbound on Sunday nights.   We need for the 241 to be completed and the agency in charge is trying to get it done:
Orange County's Transportation Corridor Agencies has a new pitch to try to rally public support for completion of the 241 Toll Road to I-5.

The TCA is leaving door hangers on South County homes that read:

"The I-5 is the only major artery in and out of south O.C. So when the 5's going nowhere, neither are we. And traffic's only going to get worse. Today, driving from San Clemente to Mission Viejo takes about 20 minutes. Soon, it'll be an hour. But if we finish what we started, the same drive will take just 16 minutes on the 241 and only 25 minutes on the 5! Plus, provide a crucial alternate route. Contact your local officials and add your name to our email list at www.relievetraffic.org today."

The door hanger includes a tear-off sheet reading "I think the 241 needs to be completed because ... " The sheet can be mailed back postage-free.

The hangers are being left at 45,000 homes in San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano and Dana Point, according to Lisa Telles, a TCA spokeswoman.
I guarantee you that whatever flora or fauna there is out there that might be inconvenienced by completion of the toll road, there are plenty more in Camp Pendleton or points further south into Mexico. It's well worth completing the road.

The 73 toll road between Newport Beach and San Juan Capistrano has been a real boon to travel in Orange County, taking a lot of traffic away from the 405.  However, once you hit the I-5 things get pretty sticky.

Finish the toll road.
