Surf's Up!
We getting pounded with big surf along the southwest facing beaches of Orange County, and the local paper has some video up from the maniacs riding the waves:

I was doing training at a hospital while in nursing school. I remember 3 patients who were admitted within a 2 week period with spinal injuries from rough surf. Two of the guys in their early 20s were paralyzed from the neck down. The 3rd guy was in his 40's; he survived his injury intact. It really made a 19 year old student nurse develop a healthy respect for the power of the sea.
