Political Ad of the Day

Although it appears that John McCain will win his renomination to the Senate rather easily, his opponent, J.D. Hayworth, has unleashed a haymaker of an ad:
If anyone seriously thinks McCain's newfound conservatism will last beyond election day, they're kidding themselves. As soon as he's assured another six years he'll go back to being Sen. Maverick and looking for ways to help the Democrats pass amnesty and other parts of their agenda.

Global Warming Quote of the Day

Another good reason to get John McCain out of the Senate - from his floor speech yesterday:
Let me say to my colleagues, I am proud of my record on climate change. I have been all over the world, and I have seen climate change. I know it is real, and I will be glad to continue this debate with my colleagues and people who do not agree with that. I believe climate change is real.
Yes, Senator, climate change is real. It's always been real. The climate is changing all the time. There's never been a period in recorded history when the climate wasn't changing.

What he's really saying, without saying it, is that he believes the changes are being caused by man, and that's just stupid. It is the height of arrogance to assume that puny little mankind is capable of altering the climate of this planet, or capable of stopping whatever natural processes are going on. We can't do it, and we certainly can't do it by passing some expensive and useless tax regulations.

J.D. Hayworth for Senate in Arizona. McCain needs to go.

McCain Gets a Challenger

It looks like former congressman and radio talk show host J.D. Hayworth will challenge John McCain for his Senate seat:
On KFYI Phoenix, JD Hayworth just announced that this is his last day on the radio and he will pursue public service. He was a little coy, no official announcement, but probably because of legal issues involved in announcing a candidacy on his owe show.

He's in. Whohoo! Down with McCain.
Here's where it really gets interesting. Sarah Palin was going to campaign for McCain and that could actually be good for Hayworth. Palin does not have a very high favorable rating among any but the most ardent conservatives, and they don't think much of McCain. Palin also campaigned for Doug Hoffman in NY-23 and he lost. I'm not sure Palin's endorsement will help McCain at all, and it might hurt Palin.

Hayworth is a solid conservative and I'd love to see him replace ol' Maverick John.
