There have been 43 presidents elected in this country since the original George W. back in the 1780's, and only 3 have come from the ranks of current legislators. There's a reason for that, and Terry Michael, a former Democrat operative, thinks he knows why and why it will play to Bush's advantage. His article, "Why Conflicted Voters Will Go For Bush" is pretty good reading (especially for a Democrat).
