Newly re-elected Senator Arlen Specter of PA is set to take over the chairmanship of the Senate Judiciary Committee, the committee charged with recommending judicial nominations to the full Senate. Specter came out yesterday with what could only be considered a threat to the President that he shouldn't nominate any judges who might be against Roe v. Wade. Why should the President abandon his principles just to keep a liberal Republican happy?
There is now a movement to stop Specter from attaining the chairmanship. Check out the website and contact the other Republican members of the Judiciary committee. Specter can only serve as chairman if the rest of the committee Republicans agree.
