The UCC is a very liberal organization which more or less alleges in their ads that if you're homosexual, you're welcome in their churches. However, there are other less obvious allegations in their ads as explained in this paragraph from this article in Christianity Today:
But apparently the UCC is quite concerned about churches that require boy-girl-boy-girl seating. But even more so, the UCC opposes all those congregations out there that ban non-whites from attending. Because the message of this ad isn't that the UCC welcomes minorities—it's that all the other churches out there hate you.The UCC is very slyly inferring that they are the only church that welcomes everyone, and other churches will not only reject homosexuals, but minorities as well. That, of course, is rubbish.
A true evangelical church will accept everyone. Now before you write me angry emails, what I'm saying is that they accept every person, not every sin. Remember - hate the sin, love the sinner. My own church eagerly welcomes anyone who wants to learn more about God and Christianity, but they will not ignore the sin. My pastor has more than once made it perfectly clear that homosexuality is a sin, and we have counselors and recovery groups designed to help people who need it.
Unfortunately for the UCC, they not only love the sinner, but don't mind the sin either. In their view, homosexuality is not a sin (they must not have Leviticus in their Old Testaments), but just another acceptable lifestyle. They have chosen a path that is very dangerous to their eternal souls.
I'm all for getting as many people into church as possible, but we can't afford to water down the truth to do it. Social liberalism and true Christianity just don't mix.
