High School Football Update

Tonight the Mission Viejo Diablos take on the Upland Highlanders in semi-final Division II football action. Mission Viejo is now 12-0 after crushing Hart of Newhall 50-20 last weekend. Should the Diablos win tonight, they will play for the Division II championship next Saturday night at Angels Stadium against Valencia.

One interesting side note, the Division I final will be Los Alamitos versus either Long Beach Poly or Esperanza. Since Mission crushed (I like that word) both Los Alamitos and Long Beach Poly earlier this year, if Poly makes it to the finals, Mission has the chance to win not only the Division II title, but the symbolic Division I title as well.

Also, my wife works at Tesoro High School which has only had a football program for three years (the school opened in 2001). Tesoro beat defending champion La Habra last night and will play for the Division IX title this coming Friday night against either Fullerton or Western. We could have two championship teams in the family.
