Compare these two statements from President Bush:
September 30, 2003: "If there is a leak out of my administration, I want to know who it is," the president told reporters back then. "And if the person has violated the law, the person will be taken care of."
July 18, 2005: "If someone committed a crime, they will no longer work in my administration."
The media is running all over themselves claiming that Bush has raised the bar on when he would fire a staffer for being involved in the Plame "leak", but his statement today perfectly fits his statement from 2003. In both cases he refers to someone as having broken the law, something which cannot be determined unless and until they are convicted of a crime. A mere allegation, or for that matter an indictment, is not enough.
This whole thing is a media concoction in a desperate attempt to hurt Bush by getting rid of their archenemy, Karl Rove. I stand by my earlier prediction - it will not work. Rove will survive this manufactured scandal.
