These two incredibly good looking kids (they clearly take after their mother), along with about 200 of their fellow Mission Viejo High School students, will be competing this Saturday in the Western Band Association State Finals at Long Beach Veterans Stadium. MVHS competes in the 5A category, which is the top classification for marching bands, and two years ago they won the state title.
If you'd like to see some great marching skill and hear some powerful music, there will be 25 4A and 5A bands competing at the finals, with the preliminaries starting at 8:45 am and running until 4:30, and the finals beginning at 6:30. Each school performs a show that runs about 7 minutes and is non-stop movement and music. Pretty impressive stuff.
Although the event is in Long Beach, MVHS is the host school for the competition, which means I'll be working all day as I did a few weeks ago at our home comp. Mission marches their preliminary show at 4:00 pm, and will surely be in the finals later that night.
