Boeing Taking the Lead Back from Airbus

If you're an airplane geek like I am, you need to read Flying High, an article from the Weekly Standard which explains why Boeing has suddenly jumped back into dominance in the jetliner market. Airbus was betting that the airlines would jump at the chance to buy their new A380 jumbo jet, but it's not happening. Few airports can handle the giant jets, either in terms of taxiways, parking space, lounge areas, or baggage carousels that can handle the baggage for 800 people.

Instead, airlines are ordering up dozens of the new Boeing 787 Dreamliners which are smaller and very technically advanced. That's going to be good for Boeing and the U.S. economy.

Read it all here.
