Don't Pay Any Attention to the Mayor or the Governor

Howard the Donkey was on another rant yesterday as Dems gathered in New Orleans for some photo ops and strategy meetings. This quote stood out:
"Our current Republican government will be judged by how they treated Americans of the Gulf Coast, and how it has treated, or mistreated, our American community," Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean said in his speech to the committee on Saturday. "The Republicans have cut and run when it comes to rebuilding the Gulf Coast, and we will not do that."
I think Howard's a little overly optimistic there. The American people may not forget what the Republicans did or didn't do in the aftermath of Katrina, but they also won't forget what Democrat Ray "Schoolbus/Chocolate City" Nagin or the overwhelmed Democrat governor Kathleen Blanco failed to do throughout the crisis, and in the preparation (or lack thereof) prior to the storm.

If I were Howard, I don't think I'd throw around the term "cut-and-run" quite so freely. I don't know about you, but when I hear "cut-and-run" I don't think of Republicans and New Orleans, I think of Democrats and Iraq. That may not be the image that Howard wants to put in the minds of voters prior to this Fall's elections.
