The Year With No Fitzmas

There is gloom, despair and agony on the angry left today as special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald, despite months of effort, was unable to come up with any charges against Karl Rove in the CIA "leak" case. Sorry, Joe Wilson - no frog marching today:
The prosecutor in the C.I.A. leak case on Monday advised Karl Rove, the senior White House adviser, that he would not be charged with any wrongdoing, effectively ending the nearly three-year criminal investigation that had at times focused intensely on Mr. Rove.

The decision by the prosecutor, Patrick J. Fitzgerald, announced in a letter to Mr. Rove's lawyer, Robert D. Luskin, lifted a pall that had hung over Mr. Rove who testified on five occasions to a federal grand jury about his involvement in the disclosure of an intelligence officer's identity.

In a statement, Mr. Luskin said, "On June 12, 2006, Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald formally advised us that he does not anticipate seeking charges against Karl Rove."
You may recall that for months the angry left would get all excited as rumors would fly that Rove was about to be indicted. It got especially hot just before Christmas as the wackos prayed to their non-God that Fitzgerald would bring them all a present by filing charges against the president's number one political aide. But, as in the old joke, just because there's a pile of poop under the Christmas tree, that doesn't mean there's a pony around there somewhere. For the nutroots and their desperate allies in the press, it was all poop and no pony.

So try to be nice to your wacky left friends and neighbors. They may have lost their will to live.

UPDATE: Reaction from the left -

Howard the Donkey is not happy

Angry left sites ignoring the Rove news

Denial is not just a river in Egypt.
