A buddy showed me this website which I hadn't heard of before - FamilyWatchdog.us. The site allows you to search your area for the locations of registered sex offenders. Not only does it map the locations where the offenders live and work, but it will also give you a photo and a description of their convictions.
It used to be (at least in California) that if you wanted to see the "Megan's law" list of registered sex offenders, you had to go to the Sheriff's department and use their computers. For awhile they provided that service at the Sheriff's booth at the county fair, and there was always a line waiting to get info.
Now that information is just a couple of clicks away. Bad news for the perverts, but good news for the parents.
