I'm writing this inbetween visits from pirates, witches, ghosts, at least one race car, and numerous other short extortionists demanding candy lest they "trick" me. It's a little unusual for me to be home on Halloween. For 9 years from 1995-2003 my quartet did a Halloween "Pumpkin Patch" celebration at a church in Bellflower. We usually had upwards of 1000 people there, and there was plenty of opportunities for the kids to get candy, so the whole family went.
We stopped doing that show after 2003 when the group slowed down, so it seems a little weird to be here answering the door. When you think about it, the whole thing is a pretty strange ritual. We dress our kids up in odd looking costumes and send them out to threaten the neighbors. Sort of sounds like Hamas or the PLO.
Oh well, back to the festivities...
