The First Female Candidate for President?

I was watching the 5pm news on the NBC affiliate here in Los Angeles, and right before the end of the hour they did a tease for the 11pm news. The anchorette showed some B-roll of Hillary and said "she's the first woman to run for president". I yelled "NO SHE ISN'T!"

The news writers clearly weren't paying attention just three years ago when Carol Mosely-Brown, a former U.S. Senator, ran for the Democratic nomination and was part of the seven dwarves which was eventually whittled down to John F'ing Kerry.

And, Mosely-Brown wasn't the first woman to run either. Shirley Chisolm ran for president in 1972. It took me about 30 seconds to find that on the internet. You'd think the news staff at KNBC could have discovered that for themselves.
