The Night of the Blinking Pelosi

A tip of the hat to LGF for that title. That's the best title I've seen yet. If it was hot on the platform in the House of Representatives, I'm sure Bush was cooled off by the breeze coming from Pelosi's eyelids. (UPDATE - Pelosi clocked at 1 blink for every 2 seconds)

I didn't watch the State of the Union speech, but a lot of other people did. Here are some of the liveblogs:

You can pretty much get the drift of the speech and response from reading the liveblogs. A couple of other interesting notes. One person commented that Barack Obama was seated in front of Hillary Clinton, thus guaranteeing an shot of Obama with every shot of Clinton. I'll bet that pissed her off.

And Jim Webb, who gave the snarky response, was described as either wearing a wig, or looking somewhat like a Muppet. One writer described him as "Webbie the Grouch".

What little I did see brought memories of the climactic ending of Tom Clancey's "Debt of Honor" when an angry Japanese pilot rams a 747 into a joint session of Congress wiping out the entire body. It gives me a warm feeling.
