Oppose the Surge and Kiss Your Funds Goodbye

In 2002 I made my first ever political contribution - $100 to Norm Coleman for his run for Senate from Minnesota. I was so enraged by the actions of the Dems at the "memorial service" for Sen. Paul Wellstone that I had to do something to fight back against the way they turned a memorial into a vicious partisan political rally.

In 2004 I contributed to several other Senate candidates, some successful and some not, in the hopes of building a strong GOP majority. After watching the GOP fumble around for 2 years with the strong majority I had hoped for, I saved my money in '06. Based upon what I see going on now, I'll be saving a lot more money in '08.

Hugh Hewitt suggests that perhaps taking the following pledge might wake up of few bonehead Senators:
If the United States Senate passes a resolution, non-binding or otherwise, that criticizes the commitment of additional troops to Iraq that General Petraeus has asked for and that the president has pledged, and if the Senate does so after the testimony of General Petraeus on January 23 that such a resolution will be an encouragement to the enemy, I will not contribute to any Republican senator who voted for the resolution. Further, if any Republican senator who votes for such a resolution is a candidate for re-election in 2008, I will not contribute to the National Republican Senatorial Committee unless the Chairman of that Committee, Senator Ensign, commits in writing that none of the funds of the NRSC will go to support the re-election of any senator supporting the non-binding resolution.

Hugh suggests you contact Minority Leader Senator McConnell and National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman Senator Ensign and let them know how you feel too. I have no use for these grandstanding morons from either party anymore, and if the GOP can't get their act together, not only will they never get a dime from me again, I'll reregister as an independent and let everyone start fighting over me instead of taking me for granted.

By the way, Sen. Coleman is now one of the Senators promoting a resolution opposing the surge. You can take me off your Christmas card list, Senator.
