Viva Las Vegas Day 2

All posts on this trip: Day 1 / Day 2 / Day 3 / Day 4

Today we walked a million miles. I started out hitting the buffet breakfast with my daughter at the South Point, after which we all headed back to the BassPro Shops for the fishing demonstration my son wanted to see. They actually cast with lures into the big fish tank (but no hooks) and you can see how the different lures work and how the fish react. I'm not a fisherman, but my son enjoyed it. Here we are out by the big duck pond in front of the store.

From there we did the multi-hotel run through the south end of the Strip. We parked at the Mandalay Bay and then walked through Luxor, Excalibur, New York, New York, MGM Grand (where we saw the lionesses and cubs), Tropicana, and then stopped at M&M's World, one of our favorite places. They have the best Peanut M&Ms in the world at this place and they come in a whole rainbow of colors:

We never could figure out why they're so much better in Las Vegas until we saw a Travel Channel show that toured the Mars candy plant outside of town. They're made right here, so they're as fresh as you can get them.

After walking ourselves stupid, we checked into the Flamingo. Our room is on the 19th floor facing the garden side of the hotel. This is our view:

The kids are a few doors down on the Strip side of the hotel, but mostly have a view of the tops of buildings and some of Caeser's Palace.

For dinner we headed across the street to the Forum Shops at Caesers and at at the very busy Cheesecake Factory. While waiting for our table we spent some time keeping the fish company:

For a town in the middle of the desert, they sure have a lot of fish tanks.

We were all pretty tired so by 9:30 we headed back to the rooms. Tomorrow we're planning lunch at my wife's favorite little place at Paris Las Vegas, plus we're planning stops at the Aladdin, Bellagio, and maybe the Stratosphere tomorrow night. Another busy day.

Blogging may be light, depending on how early I drag myself out in the morning.
