Viva Las Vegas Day 3

All posts on this trip: Day 1 / Day 2 / Day 3 / Day 4

Another long and active day. Today we started out with lunch at my wife's favorite little place in Paris Las Vegas, and then headed over to what is supposed to become Planet Hollywood Hotel (formerly The Aladdin). The Desert Passage shops, which are part of the old Aladdin complex, have a Moroccan street scene theme throughout, and much of it looks like this:

The new owners of "Planet Hol", which is what the incomplete signage on top of the hotel currently reads, are renaming this mall to the "Miracle Mile Shops" and are planning to give it an L.A. vibe, including refacing many of the shops to remove the old desert style. The casino area, which used to have the Arabian theme, now looks like this:
In other words, they've gone from Moroccan bazaar to Hollywood bizarre. Given the sign currently on the building, it will always be Planet Hole to me.

After that stop we headed across the street to the always entertaining Bellagio to see what the conservatory looked like. It was spectacular as always, and here we are enjoying the sights and scents:

We stopped back through the Forum Shops and took some time to rest before heading to for a quick visit to the Wynn's Resort, and then on to the Stratosphere for dinner and a trip to the top of the tower. the kids rode the "Big Shot" which rises from the top of the tower, and the X-Scream, a dastardly device whose track tips over the edge of the 1,000' + tall building and makes you think you're going to plunge off into the abyss. While they did that I took some photos, including this one of the Strip at night:

The only sight quite like it was the scene of New York from the top of the World Trade Center. The wind was pretty brisk, so I'm a little surprised that I was able to keep the camera still enough to maintain the focus.

We made a late night stop to visit my sister's family, who are staying in our same hotel, and then ran over to the Bellagio to see the fountain show at night. The song was "All That Jazz" and as usual, the choreographer did a wonderful job of interpreting the song with the various fountains and lights.

Tomorrow we're back at it again with planned stops at the Venetian, Mirage and Treasure Island. After that, we'll see.
