In an interview on CBS News, Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE), "who is still considering his options for the 2008 race, left open the possibility of becoming an independent and sharing a ticket with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg."
Said Hagel: "I am not happy with the Republican Party today. It's been hijacked by a group of single-minded almost isolationists, insulationists, power-projectors."
"Hagel said he will not decide if he is going to run for president until late this summer... After dining with former New York's mayor, who is also said to be considering a run for president as an independent, Hagel said people might want to consider the two on a ticket."
I don't think either guy would want to be Vice President, but should they follow their egos and try anyway, I can't see them drawing much support away from the GOP candidate. They might, however, find support from Democrats who can't stomach the thought of another President Clinton. They may have 'R' by their names now, but they pose a bigger threat to Democrats than Republicans.
