I happened to flip on the Yankees-Indians playoff game as it hit the 8th inning and saw a rather amazing sight - players were being swarmed with little bugs. The poor guys were getting sprayed with bug spray and it wasn't having any effect at all. The Yankees pitcher was covered with them and all the infielders were begging for mercy.
According to one of the reporters the warm weather in Cleveland resulted in a mass hatching of what are known as Canadian Soldiers, basically some type of Mayfly which must be impervious to bug spray. They're pretty tough little buggers. They normally mass over the water, but the lack of wind allowed them to drift over the ballfield. The varmints are attracted to moisture and sweaty ballplayers apparently work just fine for them.
I've never seen a game called on account of bugs, but it just might happen in Cleveland. Darn global warming.
UPDATE: Hugh Hewitt thinks God has taken sides in the series by calling a plague down on the Yankees.
