Del Mar Evacuees Being Sent 60 Miles North

I saw this note on the San Diego Fire Blog:
Del Mar city officials are reporting that the fire has moved into the Fairbanks Ranch area. Residents in Del Mar are being told to evacaute.

Evacuees are being sent north to El Toro High School, 25255 Toledo Way in Lake Forest, Orange County.
Del Mar is 55 miles south of where I live, and El Toro High School is about 5 miles north of my home. I can't believe they're sending people all the way up here. No wonder the freeway is such a mess.

By the way, Del Mar is located on the Pacific Ocean which means the fire has moved all the way from its inland starting spot nearly to the water. Scary stuff.

UPDATE: Reports are that San Diego County has lost 500 homes and 100 businesses of various types (and at least one church) in the fires, and it's not over yet.
