A Lot of Good Memories May Be Gone

The pictures below were taken in 2004 of a home in Running Springs, CA that my family rented each Christmas for better than 20 years. The home was sold and we haven't had a chance to go back since these photos were taken, but even if it was still available, it may be gone.

Watching the local news this morning they were detailing the fire fight in Running Springs, and from the angle of the pictures it looked like this neighborhood was on fire. They showed a number of burning homes and gave the street addresses which were only a couple of blocks from this neighborhood. This particular neighborhood was about 2 miles west of downtown Running Springs right off Hwy 18. For those familiar with the area, it was right behind the CDF fire station (but I'm not sure that was much help).

We really loved that house, and if we could, we would have bought it ourselves. It came close to burning in the 2003 fires and today it may have been lost. I won't really know until I get a chance to go up there again and look around. The house was on Overhill Drive. If anybody has any information about that area, I'd like to know what happened.

UPDATE: Good news! It looks like Overhill Drive was spared.
