Here we go again. After a night of high Santa Ana winds another fire has hit the canyons northeast of Malibu and is sweeping toward the sea. Latest report is 1,500 acres burned and 20 homes. The live pictures on TV look just like the October firestorm. With the writer's strike still underway, even the news and weather is in reruns.
The winds are supposed to die down by Sunday, but not before there's probably a lot more damage. One report indicates that the fire was started by a group of partying teenagers in one of the upper canyons.
Idiots.
Although every TV station in Los Angeles is carrying the fire story I'm having a hard time picking one to stay with because of the idiotic questions being asked by the anchors or their reporters. They also seem to find the most annoying people to interview. I've seen one lady on several stations as she apparently runs from live truck to live truck to tell her story.
One anchor asked a helicopter pilot "how much progress had been made in creating rain". the same guy later asked a reporter what the "philosophy is in living in a dangerous area". Just show us the pictures and tell us what's burning and what might burn next. Quit the philosophy lessons and "spiritual awakenings".
Just report the news.
UPDATE: They've brought in the big guns - the DC 10 Fire Tanker is now working the fire.
