Student Hung Out to Dry in Rush to Judgment

Another day, another noose:
A Rancho Bernardo High School student is in a lot of trouble. The student is accused of placing a noose and writing racial slurs.

The Union-Tribune reports the noose and slurs were found Tuesday.

The school wouldn't release information on the student that they believe is responsible.

District officials say the student has been disciplined.

Not so fast there, Kemosabe. According to a broadcast report this morning on KTLA in Los Angeles the noose that was found was actually a stage prop for a school play, and not a racial attack. Police are now saying that there was no nefarious race-baiting scheme at work. So far there's no reporting of that part of the story in the San Diego press that I can find.

So, how do you undo the discipline that was given to the non-offending student? If I were his family, I'd be getting a lawyer. Two can play this "rush to judgment" game.
