There Are Two Less Burglars in the Lone Star State

A couple of weeks ago a Pasadena, TX homeowner took the law into his own hands when two guys were seen burglarizing his neighbor's house. When the police took too long to respond, 61-year old Joe Horn confronted the burglars when they entered his yard and blew them both away with a shotgun. He may be prosecuted and the local civil rights activist crowd thought they'd garner a little free publicity by staging a rally in the street in front of his house. They were met with resistance:

“Activist Quanell X and dozens of other protesters Sunday faced hundreds of homeowners and supporters of Joe Horn, the Pasadena man who shot and killed two men he suspected of burglarizing a neighbor’s home more than two weeks ago. Families of the slain men, Miguel Antonio DeJesus, 38, and Diego Ortiz, 30, also were present.

Yard signs lined the 7400 block of Timberline in Pasadena, where the incident took place, as well as on nearby streets. Residents and Horn supporters waved American flags and carried signs reading, “We love our neighbor for protecting our neighbors” and “Burglary is a risky business.”

Motorcyclist Aaron “Blowout” Morrow, 43, and dozens of his fellow bikers lined Timberline, loudly revving their engines each time Quanell X attempted to speak. “I support our rights as Americans to protect ourselves and support our Second Amendment rights,” Morrow said.

Quanell X, who said he is not certain the shooting was racially motivated, said he “wouldn’t be surprised” after Sunday afternoon’s events. “Our protesters were peaceful in spite of racial slurs,” he said.

“I just can’t believe that we’ve got a race riot going on in our neighborhood,” said Michelle Howell, who lives several doors down from Horn. “First of all, this is a quiet place, secondly we’ve got neighbors of all different races. This has nothing to do with race.”
I don't believe this shooting was about race at all, but about two guys breaking into Horn's neighbor's home and nearly getting away with it. I doubt if Horn could even tell the race of the perps when he made his initial call to the police. He wasn't looking to shoot some Mexicans that day, but was looking to stop two low-life thieves. However, race hustlers like "Quanell X" are running out of opportunities to get themselves on TV so they attempt to create racial problems where none existed.

According to one report I saw public sentiment is running 2-1 in favor of Mr. Horn. The reality is that most honest citizens are not troubled by the early demise of a couple of burglars. It would be a shame if this guy is charged with a crime. You can read the transcript of the 911 call and decide for yourself.

UPDATE: Both shootees were illegal aliens with criminal records.
