Congratulations to Ryan Newman and Penske South Racing for their 1-2 finish in the Daytona 500, with Newman winning and Kurt Busch pushing him to victory.
For those out there who are convinced that NASCAR drivers are a bunch of toothless moonshine runners, Newman has a degree in Chassis Engineering from Purdue University. He's one of the sharpest guys out there. He told his dad when he was 8 1/2 years old that he was going to be a race car driver, and now he's won the biggest race in stock car racing. His dad was in tears in Victory Circle.
Interestingly, Newman didn't understand why people would come up to him and say "Hello, Newman", in a snarky voice. He never watched Seinfeld. He was probably too busy studying.
