IRVINE - A 15-year-old football player at Northwood High School collapsed and died after practice Wednesday evening, police said.
Dylan Bradshaw, 15, was in spring football practice for the junior varsity team when he began having an apparent asthma attack and collapsed shortly after 5 p.m., Northwood officials said. He was a defensive lineman.
A physical trainer at the scene took him to the locker room, where he went into cardiac arrest.
The trainer initiated CPR, Irvine police Lt. Rick Handfield said.
Paramedics took Dylan to a hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead at 6:35 p.m.
Sad story. This is the third student at that school to die this year. One was lost in a car accident, and another to leukemia. It's going to be a tough day at Northwood.
