Obama Quits Trinity Church

This had to happen if Obama was to have any chance of winning in November:

ABARDEEN, S.D. (May 31) - Barack Obama is resigning a 20 year membership in the Trinity United Church of Christ in the aftermath of inflammatory remarks by former pastor the Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

Obama campaign communications director Robert Gibbs said Obama had submitted a letter of resignation to the church and would discuss his decision in a session with reporters later Saturday.

Comments by Wright have posed an unwanted problem for Obama, front-runner for the Democratic presidential nomination.

I wonder what black America is going to think of that? How long until some black liberation theology activist trots out the "Uncle Tom" reference?

I'm sure Obama is hoping this will make his Trinity troubles go away, but it won't. He still maintained a 20-year relationship with a pastor and a church with views that are very radical to most of America. And blacks who supported the teachings of the wacky succession of pastors that have preached in that church will not be happy with Obama heading for the tall grass.

This race just gets more and more fun.
