This shot from Crawford, TX:
As the daughter of the president Jenna could have had the equivalent of a state ceremony, complete with live TV coverage and thousands of members of the world's press. Instead, they had a private ceremony, out of sight of the prying media, at her family's home surrounded by close friends and family. I'm guessing that ceremony will prove to be more meaningful than a White House Rose Garden media scrum would have been.
A White House wedding would also have brought out the immature and petulant anti-war crowd that would have undoubtedly tried to disrupt the ceremony with noisy protests outside the White House grounds. Since they have no sense of decorum, you can't blame the First Family for wanting to get away from all that.
One advantage to being president is that many celebrity weddings are accompanied by flights of noisy paparazzi helicopters trying to get the "money" shot of the ceremony. The president can just order those guys shot down.
And just a thought - should Hillary have been elected and Chelsea gotten married during her term, does anyone think Bill Clinton would have allowed a private ceremony?
