Hillary's Divorce

Back on June 7th when Hillary Clinton conceded the primary to Obama I made this prediction:

I've been predicting for some time that within one year of the day that Hillary Clinton either drops out of the race or loses the election she will begin divorce proceedings against Bill (I think the first time I made that prediction was January 10, 2008, a couple of days after the New Hampshire primary). He was clearly more of a liability in this campaign than an asset, and there are already stories of his suspected philandering during his many solo outings as a surrogate for her campaign. Now that her campaign for president is over for this cycle and he has proven to be such a burden, her use for him is over.

It's time to jettison old Bill before the 2012 campaign ramps up. We'll check back next year at this time to see what happened.

Let's fast forward to Hillary's opening remarks from her big Dem Convention speech:
CLINTON: Thank you. Thank you all.

Thank you. Thank you all very, very much.

Thank you. Thank you all very much. I…

I am so honored to be here tonight.

You know, I’m — I’m here tonight as a proud mother, as a proud Democrat…

… as a proud senator from New York…

… a proud American…

… and a proud supporter of Barack Obama.
A proud wife? A proud former First Lady? Not mention of that at all. Even when she referred to her husband in the speech it was pretty formal:

And when Barack Obama is in the White House, he’ll revitalize our economy, defend the working people of America, and meet the global challenges of our times.

Democrats know how to do this. As I recall, we did it before with President Clinton and the Democrats.

And if we do our part, we’ll do it again with President Obama and the Democrats.

Does that sound like a devoted wife? She could have been talking about any past Dem president.

The images of Bill sitting in the nosebleed section last night mouthing "I love you, I love you..." over and over when she was introduced just didn't look right. And word is out that while Hillary will probably attend Obama's greek temple speech tomorrow, Bill will not. I don't think we'll see them together much in the future.

Hillary is now putting her 2012 campaign together, and my prediction still holds. He will be a distant former president and former husband by the 2012 convention.
