DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. — A man being suspended in the air by six metal hooks clamped to his skin during an act at a tattoo convention fell and broke a leg.
A North Broward Medical Center spokeswoman reported that performer Jimmy Pinango was listed in critical condition late Sunday night.
The fall occurred Saturday at the 13th annual South Florida Tattoo Expo, which was being held at the Deerfield Beach Hilton. Performance organizers said Pinango had been lifted about 35 feet into the air but was dipping down when he fell to the ground from about 12 feet.
The mechanical malfunction of a piece of rigging equipment caused the fall, organizers said.
No, actually being lifted into the air with six metal hooks clamped to his skin is what caused the fall.
