Article on Metrolink Engineer Raises All Kinds of New Questions

The LA Times has a profile piece on the Metrolink engineer that adds some new issues into the investigation. According to the article engineer Robert Sanchez was gay, had a live-in "partner" kill himself on Valentine's Day in 2003 after a fight, and may have been taking medication for diabetes. Could this explain Sanchez' interest in 14-year old boys who were reportedly text-messaging him immediately before the accident? Could he have had a diabetic attack of some kind that would have rendered him disabled at the critical point where the train encountered the red signal? Could he have been committing suicide?

Read the piece and see what questions occur to you.
