I spent the day riding the rails all over Southern California. I had a good time, though I forgot how narrow and stiff the seats are on Metrolink passenger cars. They don't recline, either, so spending as much time as I did on the train is not as easy on Metrolink as it is on Amtrak.
We did have a little bit of a delay on the way home from Los Angeles. The train slowed to a crawl right before we got to Fullerton. There was a police investigation right along the tracks, and a dead body laying on the sidewalk. I don't know if he was hit by a train, or was just a druggie who died there. It looks like he'd been dead for awhile (they didn't have the body covered - they were taking pictures). Oh well. (UPDATE: Victim was a 40-year old transient. Some signs of trauma.)
Otherwise, fairly non-eventful. I made the right decision to stay away from the home office because it appears our power was out from 8:30 to about 3:30, and it's really hot. Better to spend the day on a train.
Okay, back to blogging....
