On this day 20 years ago I became a dad for the first time. Earlier that year my wife and I used our tax refund to buy an RCA VHS video camera - the best investment we ever made. It was one of those big, bulky cameras, typical of the technology of that day that sat on your shoulder as you filmed, but it took great pictures, and as a result we have 20 years of various family activities and growing kids on tape (I finally had to replace the RCA VHS with a Sony digital video camera in 2002).
So, with all that video sitting out there and my eldest child's 20th birthday on the horizon, I took a weekend and did some editing and put together a special video birthday card for the girl. Lots of memories in there. All the music you'll hear was performed by the birthday girl.
Happy birthday, kiddo!
