ATTN Coal Country - Obama Promises to Bankrupt You

Gateway Pundit is reporting on a promise Barack Obama made back in January, a promise that has gone unreported. That promise - to bankrupt the coal industry:
Let me sort of describe my overall policy.

What I've said is that we would put a cap and trade system in place that is as aggressive, if not more aggressive, than anybody else's out there.

I was the first to call for a 100% auction on the cap and trade system, which means that every unit of carbon or greenhouse gases emitted would be charged to the polluter. That will create a market in which whatever technologies are out there that are being presented, whatever power plants that are being built, that they would have to meet the rigors of that market and the ratcheted down caps that are being placed, imposed every year.

So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted.

That will also generate billions of dollars that we can invest in solar, wind, biodiesel and other alternative energy approaches.

The only thing I've said with respect to coal, I haven't been some coal booster. What I have said is that for us to take coal off the table as a ideological matter as opposed to saying if technology allows us to use coal in a clean way, we should pursue it.

So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can.

It's just that it will bankrupt them."
The United States is the Saudi Arabia of coal, and with the clean coal technology available today, there's no reason why we shouldn't be using the resources that God gave us. However, Obama and his leftist ilk have bought into the global warming fairy tale to the extent they are willing to devastate whole sectors of our economy to appease Mother Gaia.

Some of the states critical to an Obama win are big coal states, like Ohio and Pennsylvania. Those voters need to take notice. You can hear the audio here.

I think Obama has now completed the Pennsylvania trifecta - add this comment to his "bitter clingers" comment in April, and Jack Murtha's "racists and rednecks" comment, and Pennsylvania suddenly becomes much tougher for Obama to win.

Another thought - how many voters in those coal-rich parts of the country voted early and have now discovered that their vote for Obama could be a vote to put themselves out of a job? This is another good reason not to vote early - you just don't know what's going to break late in the race.
