Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has issued his strongest statement to date about Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens, saying that a "convicted felon" has no place in the Senate.
Shortly before midnight Saturday, Reid said that "the reality is that a convicted felon is not going to be able to serve in the United States Senate."
That's correct, because the Senate is the place where you learn to be a felon, but once you've achieved that status, you're expected to move on to a full-fledged life of crime.
